My former teammate and good friend Earl "The Pearl" Monroe has joined me to call the last couple of Knicks games.

And after watching the Detroit Pistons celebrate their illustrious history in a pre-game celebration before Tuesday's game against the Knicks, Earl The Pearl and I grew nostalgic and decided to reminisce about our glorious days with the New York Knickerbockers.

A Great Day For The Knicks

It's a great day for the Knicks organization, and when Donnie Walsh says, "It's not the players, it's the mix of players" that has contributed to the team's struggles in recent seasons, Clyde Frazier and I second that emotion.

With that said, Clyde and I evaluate what affect the arrival of Donnie Walsh will have on the Knicks future.

Isiah Thomas called it a nightmare, a first quarter in which the Knicks gave up 42 points, en route to a 114-93 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night.

I asked my broadcast partner, Walt "Clyde" Frazier, why he thinks New York has been struggling so much of late.

It was another tough loss for the Knicks, falling to Memphis 120-106 at The Garden Friday night.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier
and I like the grit the young players showed, but their lack of consistency on both sides of the court, especially defense, is what caused their downfall.

For the second straight night, the Knicks fell to a team fighting for their playoff lives and for the second straight game, Isiah Thomas gave the bulk of the playing time to youngsters.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I discuss Thomas' philosophy of going with youth over the vets.

The Knicks played well Sunday, but a strong fourth quarter from the Hawks led to a 109-98 win for Atlanta.

Nate Robinson scored a career-high 45 points, including 22 in the third quarter, but the Knicks went winless on their four-game homestand with a 120-114 overtime loss to Portland Saturday night.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I applaud New York's valiant effort, despite being severely short-handed.

The Knicks stuck with the Hornets for much of the game, but New Orleans pulled away in the last three-and-a-half minutes to win it 100-88 at The Garden Monday night.

Jamal Crawford led the Knicks with 20 points, but the big impact player in the game was New Orleans' Chris Paul.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I discuss just how good Paul was in the win for the Hornets.

Dwight Howard played like Superman in the paint, racking up his 10th 20-20 game of the season (26 points, 22 rebounds), as the Knicks were crushed in Orlando, 118-92, Saturday night.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I believe it was Eddy Curry's early foul trouble that prevented the Knicks from getting a handle on the 2008 Slam Dunk Champion.

After posting their worst quarter this season in the first 12 minutes, the Knicks followed up with their best quarter and trailed by only one at halftime, thanks to an offensive explosion by Jamal Crawford (15-for-29, 43 points).

New York kept its momentum going in the second half and shut down Toronto with strong pressure on the defensive end to hold on for a 103-99 victory at The Garden Friday night.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I liked the resiliency the Knicks showed out on the court.

The Knicks started off the second half of the season with a very solid effort at home, holding the 76ers to just one point over the final five minutes to secure an 89-81 win at The Garden Friday night.

Walt "Clyde" Frazier and I agree that the Knicks lost this one because of the dominating performance from Yao Ming and too many turnovers from New York.

Dishin' And Swishin': Don't Give Up On Knicks Just Yet

We are a little more than two months into the Knicks season, and obviously it is not going the way we all hoped it would. They’ve shown some superior signs, but have not been able to put it together consistently.

One thing is for certain, it’s too early to give up on the season just yet.

So, should the Knicks change their lineup? Play the younger players like David Lee, Nate Robinson and Renaldo Balkman more? Maybe change the style of play? I’ll try to answer these perplexing queries.
